Leximation, Inc. Privacy Policy - updated 19 October 2004

At Leximation, we take your privacy seriously. This privacy policy explains what type of information is collected from you when you visit our Web site and how that information may be used.

Collection of Information

Leximation collects personal information (such as your name, email address, street address, and/or telephone number) through our Web site only if you choose to provide that information to us.

Leximation asks you to provide certain personal information when you register as a user of the Web site, which is required when you request a specific service or purchase an item from Leximation. The only information required to register with the Web site is your name and email address; other information is optional and can be provided at your discretion. This information is used for the following purposes:

  • To differentiate users from one another and provide an individualized browsing experience for frequent visitors.
  • To provide easy access to password protected areas of the Web site.
  • To generate an authorization code for software purchased from Leximation.

Your name and email address is also collected when you send an email, or fill out the contact form, in order to contact Leximation.

Like all Web servers, the Leximation Web server automatically creates log files for each visitor who accesses our sites. These "access logs" allow us to make our site more useful to our visitors and to track possible abuse. The access logs do NOT record a your name, address, phone number, credit card numbers, or any other personal information. Rather, they contain some or all of the following information:

  • The Internet Protocol Address (IP Address) of the machine which accessed our Web site.
  • The date and time of the visit.
  • The browser being used (which usually includes information about the operating system and version).
  • A list of files downloaded or viewed.
  • Any errors encountered.

Any time you are "logged on" to the Web site your Leximation username (and thus any personal information provided to Leximation) can be associated with the data listed above. If this is a concern, you should only login as needed to access password-protected areas or when making a purchase.

Cookies

Leximation uses "cookies" to allow a user to remain logged in from page to page and to provide a customized interface that enhances the user's browsing experience. If acceptance of cookies is not enabled in your browser, you will be unable to access certain areas of the Web site.

A cookie is a string of characters that is written to a file on your hard drive when you visit a Web site. Only the Web site that created the cookie can read it, and it can only be used as a record keeping device to store information that the site already has. It cannot, for example, be used to read other information from your hard drive.

Use of Information

The use of personal information is limited to the following: responding to emails; fulfillment of software or service orders; sending communications, including marketing and promotional communications; other internal Leximation purposes; and other purposes that will be specified at the time the information is collected.

You will be informed at the time of collection of any information that could become publicly available, and will have the opportunity to cancel such submittals.

Personal information collected by Leximation is NOT provided to outside parties without prior consent of the individual, except under the following conditions: Leximation may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or if it believes that such action is necessary to (a) comply with the law or with legal process, (b) protect against misuse or unauthorized use of the Leximation Web site, or (c) protect the personal safety or property of Leximation Web site users, the public or Leximation and its officers or employees.

Security

Leximation has in place what we believe to be appropriate physical, electronic, and personnel procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Credit card information is currently handled solely by PayPal, Inc., and is NOT collected or stored by Leximation. A password of your choosing is required to access your personal information provided to the Leximation Web site. Any time your personal information is modified, an email is sent to you (in the case of a modification to the email address, an email is sent to both the old and new addresses).

Use of the Leximation Web site constitutes consent to any policy then in effect.
